Elena on Vampire Diaries

Even with summer in full swing, your brain is still one step ahead of the seasons thinking about what is next for the fall. That is why we look to Nina Dobrev who plays Elena Gilbert on the CW’s hit T.V. series The Vampire Diaries. With her form fitting shirts to her dark washed skinny jeans, complete with a great structured 3 button jacket that hits perfectly at the waist. Whether for day or night you are sure to turn heads with this classic, simple, sheik look that never seems to go out of style.

Switched at Birth Fashion

Well, Switched at Birth premiered on ABC Family this week.  Much to my co-workers dismay, I decided that it looked cute.  It helps that I read the plot, not saw the previews.  Cute show.  That said, I have to admit that Daphne (Katie LeClerc) is actually my favorite.  She has excellent fashion sense, and tends to pair things that I wouldn't think of.

My big "for instance"?  Early in the episode, she comes out wearing rolled up skinny jeans, a indigo racer back spaghetti strap layered under a flowery tunic spaghetti strap, and an indigo ruffle jersey jacket.  Paired with a ballet flats in a light brown, she comes across very well, especially given the way her strawberry blonde hair sets off the indigo.

Also, for an ironic moment, Daphne comes out in a t-shirt with the word "PEACE" spelled out in ASL.  Why ironic?  Daphne's deaf.

Now, as to Bay (Vanessa Marano).  She tends to dress in darker colors, lots of browns and blacks.  Which works for her.  My favorite Bay moment?  At the end.  She's wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans and a t-shirt with a girl sketched on it.  The shirt is asphalt, and the girl is done in shades of white and lighter grey, except the large bow in her hair.  The bow (which reminds of the British Flag) is all red, white, and blue.  Unfortunately, there isn't a decent image of the shirt to be had.

The other great Bay moment is early on, when Bay and her parents find out that they are not her parents.  Bay's simple.  Dark skinny jeans (something you see a lot of in this show), a white burnout tee with half sleeves, and a brown vest.  Paired with many thin necklaces and a chunky bracelet, and Bay's looking great.  Too bad she's getting devastating news at the time.

Tune in next week when we review the fashion from Episode 2, American Gothic, where hopefully Toby (Lucas Grabeel, of High School Musical fame) will wear something more interesting than a screen printed tee and a pair of jeans.

Mysterious and Good Looking Basics

Guys, I know its hard to try and find that perfect look that complements and makes you look good. Well look no further. Thanks to Ian Somerhalder who plays Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, anyone can look this great. All you need is some dark washed jeans, straight leg or boot cut, and a form fitting button down shirt. Ian Somerhalder sizzles in darker colored tones and so will you. Keep it simple and wear it with confidence and you will shine.

Serena Van Der Woodsen Working Summer Fashion Trends

Summer is almost here.  School's out and no new episodes of Gossip Girl.  Oh well, we can still enjoy reruns and be inspired by Serena's boho chic style.  In the season finale, she heads to California and looks right at home with her sunny hair, long maxi dress and sarong skirt.  All topped off with a jean jacket.  So relaxed and perfect for a breezy day in the sun.
